The course in general
How many contact hours do you have in the average week?
12

Ideally, what 3/4 subjects would you recommend doing in order to be in the best position for your course?
Law, Maths, Business and IT

Why did you decide to study your degree programme?
Wanted to set up my own business and this degree included a bit of everything.

Explain the things you wish you'd known about your degree before you applied:
Exactly how it was assessed.

Describing your average day
Explain how your day is made up. For example, do you have labs/seminars/tutorials/lectures?
Monday = 2 1hr lectures.Tuesday = 2hr lecture and 1hr tutorial.Wednesday 3 1hr tutorials.Thursday = 2 2hr lectures. Friday = off

How much extra work/reading are you required to do out of lectures?
Not a lot. It was advisable to do practice questions set but these would only be the equivilent of 2-3hrs a week.

The best and worst parts of the course
What do you like best about your degree programme?
It did include law, business, economics and IT as well as accounting.

What do you like least about your degree programme?
The deadlines were pretty much at the same time, would be better if they were spread out.

Academics and course content
What do you think of your university's academics and facilities?
Very good.

Explain how you expected your course to be and how it compares to how it actually is. Give an outline of the content of the course.
You get taught Business law which is then a group assesment. This is not taught so well and you are left as a group to learn it. Economics is taught well with worksheets and lectures. Accounting had a slightly incompetent teacher, often got things wrong. Business skills (including IT) was taught well in tutorials giving you work sheets and time to practice what you had been taught.

Describing your university
Sum up your university in one paragraph:
It is a good university that describes everything as it is and is very helpful if you need to discuss anything from changing course to social life.

What is the academic life like at your university?
It's really good, a few too many early morning starts after student nights/ university club nights.

Describe your Freshers' Week - was it as you expected, better or worse? Why?
I didn't really think about it before I went but it was a good week, wasn't really much 'free' or cheap stuff so feel a lot of money was wasted.

What is the best and worst thing about your university?
Good helpful members of staff in both lessons and libary staff. Worst would be lack of communication sometimes.

Sport and extra curricular
What are the sport and other activities on offer like at your university?
Can't complain there's a gym which is only £50 a term and sports teams to join and they're not overly fussy about who joins as long as you are dedicated.

The social scene
What is the social scene (and/or nightlife) like at your university? Is it particularly alcohol orientated?
It's amazing but yes very alcohol related. Competitions generally lead to alcohol vouchers.

What do you think of the city your university is based in or near (as a city)?
It's ok but nothing special.

Accommodation
Do you live in a halls of residence or a student house (or college)? What would you suggest is best in your opinion?
I lived in hall of residence and even though the fire alarm going off at 3am was annoying I think it was the best option. It gives you independence plus there's a warden in each block to help if there are any emergencies.

If you are in a hall or college, is it catered or self catered? Which is better for the first year in your opinion and why?
Self catered. I think this is the best because it's generally more expensive to live in your second year for rent so having to budget with food in the first year is good.

Approximately, what is the average cost of accommodation per week in your first year for catered and non-catered halls/colleges?
About £62pw self catered.
