Describing your university
Sum up your university in one paragraph:
Big, fun, lots of choice, better if you are a confident person becuase if you are not you can get caught up and overshadowed.
What is the academic life like at your university?
First year was quite casual but think it's good.
Describe your Freshers' Week - was it as you expected, better or worse? Why?
Knew before that it was overhyped but enjoyed it. Most people think it's one of the worst weeks. Meet most of your friends later on.
What is the best and worst thing about your university?
Fun, lots of people, vibrant, good city, nightlife.
Everyone is quite spread out, not many teaching hours.
Sport and extra curricular
What are the sport and other activities on offer like at your university?
Very good, lots on offer.
The social scene
What is the social scene (and/or nightlife) like at your university? Is it particularly alcohol orientated?
Think leeds is the best of all the unis at the moment in this respect. Best music scene and nightlife. Pretty cheap. Can be quite rowdy and druggy. More drugs than at most unis.
What do you think of the city your university is based in or near (as a city)?
Leeds really fun, although I don't live that near to the centre. Great clubs, shops, sports etc.
Accommodation
Do you live in a halls of residence or a student house (or college)? What would you suggest is best in your opinion?
Lived in Devonshire Hall last year. That and Boddington are by far the most fun and have the best people. Bodington is very far out.
If you are in a hall or college, is it catered or self catered? Which is better for the first year in your opinion and why?
Both. Catered is much better, meet many more people, worth it.
Approximately, what is the average cost of accommodation per week in your first year for catered and non-catered halls/colleges?
Cannot remember.
