The course in general
How many contact hours do you have in the average week?
22

Ideally, what 3/4 subjects would you recommend doing in order to be in the best position for your course?
Maths, Physics, further Maths, (economics)

Why did you decide to study your degree programme?
I want to become an engineer.

Explain the things you wish you'd known about your degree before you applied:
More details of the content of the course.

Describing your average day
Explain how your day is made up. For example, do you have labs/seminars/tutorials/lectures?
Combination of lectures and tutorials (mainly lectures).Every week I have a day of labs.

How much extra work/reading are you required to do out of lectures?
Not any reading outside of uni but you do have to work quite hard trying to understand the work done in lectures and some coursework is quite difficult.

Is there anything else you think is relevant or that you would like to add in respect of your course?
Lots of books to buy. Not cheap!!!

The best and worst parts of the course
What do you like best about your degree programme?
Problem solving skills learnt.

What do you like least about your degree programme?
Mixture of engineering subjects you have to do. Eg: I have to also study electric circuits.

Academics and course content
What do you think of your university's academics and facilities?
They aren't the best for engineering consisting of only a few labs. Most of it is done on computer simulations.

Explain how you expected your course to be and how it compares to how it actually is. Give an outline of the content of the course.
Lots of maths!! Very quick pace so have to keep on top of work. Lectureres very nice. Teaching method is just talking about the subject and can be interactive with the group some times.

Describing your university
Sum up your university in one paragraph:
It has a very good reputation which is good for finding a job at the end.

What is the academic life like at your university?
Very high standard.

Describe your Freshers' Week - was it as you expected, better or worse? Why?
It was rubbish just parties in the evening and not much to do in the day

Are there any other notes you would like to add about life in general at university or anything else which would be relevant to a prospective student?
Everyone says that the first year is easy but do not go in to uni expecting this. They are lying!!! It is a very big step up from Alevels and they only say it is easy because it is in comparison to the second and third years.

What is the best and worst thing about your university?
Good reputation and in the centre of London. Very disorganised.

Sport and extra curricular
What are the sport and other activities on offer like at your university?
I do ultimate frisbee which is very good and has taken me all over the country in tournaments. There are loads of sports clubs.

The social scene
What is the social scene (and/or nightlife) like at your university? Is it particularly alcohol orientated?
Of course it is alcohol related. That, apparently, is what all students are interested in. If you join a good sports club you will have a good social scene.

What do you think of the city your university is based in or near (as a city)?
Very good. Loads going on all the time. Really good for theatre and music.

Accommodation
Do you live in a halls of residence or a student house (or college)? What would you suggest is best in your opinion?
I stayed in halls for my first year. I was at Stamford Street apartments which is everyones first choice as it is the most central. It is the best as you get your own en-suite.

If you are in a hall or college, is it catered or self catered? Which is better for the first year in your opinion and why?
It is self catered which is the option to go for as catered you have to organise your life around the food times. Also you need to learn how to cook sometime and it is best to do that in your first year when you haven't got a lot of work (relatively) to do.

Approximately, what is the average cost of accommodation per week in your first year for catered and non-catered halls/colleges?
About £140 a week (most expensive)
