The course in general
How many contact hours do you have in the average week?
10

Ideally, what 3/4 subjects would you recommend doing in order to be in the best position for your course?
Business, Accounting, Politics, Economics.

Why did you decide to study your degree programme?
Do increase job opportunities and learn financial modelling, also to have 3 years of fun before a working life.

Describing your average day
Explain how your day is made up. For example, do you have labs/seminars/tutorials/lectures?
In uni for 9, hour long seminar. Meet up with friends in IT suite do a bit of work. Hour long lecture at about 4 o'clock. Go home watch TV, surf internet. Have dinner then do any prep work that is needed for the next day. Watch movie or go out for a drink.

How much extra work/reading are you required to do out of lectures?
Yes, more is required in final year.

The best and worst parts of the course
What do you like best about your degree programme?
Investment and finance modules.

What do you like least about your degree programme?
lack of contact time on core modules.

Academics and course content
What do you think of your university's academics and facilities?
The buildings are fine, however recently there have been a lack of quite study areas and IT facilities, I think this is due to a recent increased intake in udergraduates.

Explain how you expected your course to be and how it compares to how it actually is. Give an outline of the content of the course.
Core business areas covered in first year then you choose a specialist route. I did accounting and finance. Expect to have a good knowledge of basic maths and to do all prep work in final year. one lecture per module a week followed by a seminar where discussion is encouraged on lecture material and self study reading.

Describing your university
Sum up your university in one paragraph:
Exciting, lively and takes hard work in the final year. Overall great fun.

What is the academic life like at your university?
not as academic as a top tier uni, but is improving students are encouraged to discuss work and participate in a lot of group work out side of contact hours.

Describe your Freshers' Week - was it as you expected, better or worse? Why?
Good for making friends and getting involved. Expect to spend a lot of money! As I expected, out every night, with day time options too.

What is the best and worst thing about your university?
The best thing is that there are lots of people and a very vibrant nightlife, Also new buildings are impressive. Worst thing is the lack of quite self study areas at exam time.

Sport and extra curricular
What are the sport and other activities on offer like at your university?
Core sports are good; Rugby, football, rowing etc Could perhaps do with better squash courts and a larger gym.

The social scene
What is the social scene (and/or nightlife) like at your university? Is it particularly alcohol orientated?
Very good, and very alcohol related. Large range of different nights and social events. Also many events are run by studnet clubs.

What do you think of the city your university is based in or near (as a city)?
Very student friendly, city is dominated by students.

Accommodation
Do you live in a halls of residence or a student house (or college)? What would you suggest is best in your opinion?
Halls are great for 1st year, howver a student house is better later on, as you tend to saty in and work more often and halls are very lively 24/7.

If you are in a hall or college, is it catered or self catered? Which is better for the first year in your opinion and why?
Used to be in self catered halls, which I prefer as you can choose when and what you eat. When is a big issue with me.

Approximately, what is the average cost of accommodation per week in your first year for catered and non-catered halls/colleges?
I was in non-catered which was about £95.
