The course in general
How many contact hours do you have in the average week?
17
Ideally, what 3/4 subjects would you recommend doing in order to be in the best position for your course?
maths, further maths, economics
Why did you decide to study your degree programme?
I am good at maths but wanted a degree i could apply more to the real world.
Explain the things you wish you'd known about your degree before you applied:
The amount of work required all year round.
Describing your average day
Explain how your day is made up. For example, do you have labs/seminars/tutorials/lectures?
mostly lectures and a class for each module one every 2 weeks.
How much extra work/reading are you required to do out of lectures?
there is alot of reading needed and a lot of textbooks to buy
Is there anything else you think is relevant or that you would like to add in respect of your course?
Only do this course if you have an actual interest in the subject.
The best and worst parts of the course
What do you like best about your degree programme?
Learning about things that have actually happened
What do you like least about your degree programme?
The amount of reading needed and there are lots of exams.
Academics and course content
What do you think of your university's academics and facilities?
The library isn't open long hours at all and this doesn't help in exam periods and there is no single economics department building so all lectures are spread around.
Explain how you expected your course to be and how it compares to how it actually is. Give an outline of the content of the course.
LOTS of power point presentations. mostly notetaking to go along side these and thats the whole modules.

Describing your university
Sum up your university in one paragraph:
party, party, party, definitely. however, there is alo a lot of hard work needed.
What is the academic life like at your university?
Quite boring.
Describe your Freshers' Week - was it as you expected, better or worse? Why?
MUCH better than expected, almost 3 weeks of non-stop party. bad hangover in the end though.
What is the best and worst thing about your university?
Best- definitely the social life, nights out every weeka nd the smaller the hall you live in the better as you become close with everyone.
Worst- the amount of time spent alone.
Sport and extra curricular
What are the sport and other activities on offer like at your university?
Lots of sport.
The social scene
What is the social scene (and/or nightlife) like at your university? Is it particularly alcohol orientated?
Definitely alcohol orientated, be prepared to 3/4days awake being hungover massively. Social scene is immense but mainly at night time.
What do you think of the city your university is based in or near (as a city)?
The halls are based near the city but far enough away to feel safe and quiet at nighttime.
Accommodation
Do you live in a halls of residence or a student house (or college)? What would you suggest is best in your opinion?
halls is definitely needed for first year in my opinion, its the only way to meet SO many people.
If you are in a hall or college, is it catered or self catered? Which is better for the first year in your opinion and why?
My hall is catered which is usefull but I don't know if i would choose it again if i had the option
Approximately, what is the average cost of accommodation per week in your first year for catered and non-catered halls/colleges?
catered about £130; not catered about £110; one of the most expensive uni's in the country for accomodation.
