The course in general
How many contact hours do you have in the average week?
16

Ideally, what 3/4 subjects would you recommend doing in order to be in the best position for your course?
Business Studies is a must. Anything else is fine.

Why did you decide to study your degree programme?
I knew i was interested in doing a career in media and marketing seemed like the most suitable degree to give me a bass learning in to acquire a job in media.

Explain the things you wish you'd known about your degree before you applied:
That the university was so far away from the main city of Bristol also that the teaching was poor.

Describing your average day
Explain how your day is made up. For example, do you have labs/seminars/tutorials/lectures?
Seminars and Lectures everyday. Some days 2 hours others 8.

How much extra work/reading are you required to do out of lectures?
I'm not required to but it is recommended.

The best and worst parts of the course
What do you like best about your degree programme?
That there are 6 varied modules which still all relate to marketing.

What do you like least about your degree programme?
That the lectures are poorly taught. The seminars are OK but nothing compared to school.

Academics and course content
What do you think of your university's academics and facilities?
I think that it is poor. In my opinion, I think that from visiting friends at other universities that generally university life in the UK is poor. unless you go to Oxford, Cambridge or Dublin. I would recommend anyone to study abroad even though it costs more, it seems like you definitely get more out of it.

Explain how you expected your course to be and how it compares to how it actually is. Give an outline of the content of the course.
1st Year is very basic. It's like A Level Business Studies. 2nd year focuses more on marketing. Expect some modules to have a lot more work than others and to work much more independently as the teaching methods used are quite poor.

ERASMUS scheme, study abroad and work placements
Have you studied on an ERASMUS or study abroad programme? Where did you go and what experience have you gained from your placement?
I missed out to do one but I highly recommend it to anyone from what I've heard from friends.

Describing your university
Sum up your university in one paragraph:
I think that it is OK. Average. Vanilla. Like most UK universities. I would have much preferred to go to the USA or S Africa to study. I think that before uni life, you have to realise that you will have a lot of free time on your hands.

Describe your Freshers' Week - was it as you expected, better or worse? Why?
I don't think it is particularly necessary. Its fun but not needed.

Are there any other notes you would like to add about life in general at university or anything else which would be relevant to a prospective student?
I would make sure you join a gym and eat healthy as it is very easy to do nothing and get ill.

What is the best and worst thing about your university?
The location is awful. The teaching is woeful. There are no enthusiastic teachers. I've managed to have 1 in the last 2 years who interested me and it made a lot of difference.

Sport and extra curricular
What are the sport and other activities on offer like at your university?
Sports are poor. I play a lot of sport outside of university. But the fact that it is run by fellow students mean that things like initiations happen which are horrific and should be banned in my opinion.

The social scene
What is the social scene (and/or nightlife) like at your university? Is it particularly alcohol orientated?
I think it depends on what your friends are like. Mine aren't but generally lots of alcohol seems to be used by uni students everyday.

What do you think of the city your university is based in or near (as a city)?
Bristol is fantastic. Its beautiful and has a lot to do. Student accommodation in the city itself is much nicer that the accommodation at the campus or surrounding the campus.

Accommodation
Do you live in a halls of residence or a student house (or college)? What would you suggest is best in your opinion?
Halls in the 1st Year are important as that's where you make your friends. And then 2nd year move out asap!

If you are in a hall or college, is it catered or self catered? Which is better for the first year in your opinion and why?
Self catered as catered halls is disgusting.

Approximately, what is the average cost of accommodation per week in your first year for catered and non-catered halls/colleges?
About £80, but it varies north to south.
