Describing your university
Sum up your university in one paragraph:
It is small but stimulating and very sociable while retaining an academic edge.
What is the academic life like at your university?
Can be tough.
Describe your Freshers' Week - was it as you expected, better or worse? Why?
It was different but very good.
What is the best and worst thing about your university?
Being small is the best and worst thing. It can often feel claustrophobic but at the same time can make life very easy and makes socializing very easy too.
Sport and extra curricular
What are the sport and other activities on offer like at your university?
Lots of sports. The gym is average but fits its purpose and is cheap.
The social scene
What is the social scene (and/or nightlife) like at your university? Is it particularly alcohol orientated?
There is no clubbing but the nightlife is great and alcohol plays a fairly central role.
What do you think of the city your university is based in or near (as a city)?
The city is lovely. Lots of pubs, a wee bit lacking in shops sometimes. Dundee nearby is good for most things.
Accommodation
Do you live in a halls of residence or a student house (or college)? What would you suggest is best in your opinion?
Student house. Halls is great for 1st year, but the independence of a student house is great too.
If you are in a hall or college, is it catered or self catered? Which is better for the first year in your opinion and why?
Catered is better, more sociable.
Approximately, what is the average cost of accommodation per week in your first year for catered and non-catered halls/colleges?
About £80 I think - too expensive.
