Durham University in one paragraph...
"Durham university is a lovely place where academia meets frivolity. I imagine it to be a diluted Oxford or Cambridge. We still study hard but not so intensely that we can't have strong social lives. The drinking is strong but on the plus there is little to no drug's scene. The college system offers everyone a kind of family and alot of support in times of need. It is a very caring place which plays host to a wide range of characters meaning no one should feel out of place. " says Kathryn - read the whole review here.

The best and worst things about Durham University:

"The best thing is the beautiful yet small city and the wonderful atmosphere amongst the students. The worst thing is the rivalry between the colleges."
Louisa, doing Modern Languages - Read more

"The best thing is the collegiate system which means you're part of a tight knit community. The worst thing is the lack of diversity, there is a rather high percentage of private school stereotypes. "
Kathryn, doing Philosophy - Read more

"The best thing is that it is collegiate. This means you get a very strong and close group of friends. The university however is small enough for you to make lots of friends in other colleges aswell. The bad thing is that it is so small that you are unable to walk anywhere without running into anyone you know. Another bonus about Durham is that the city is beautiful."
Charlotte, doing Ancient History - Read more

"Best - the tight friendly atmostphere (collegiate) Worst - the fact that there is quite a generic type of student there (middle class from public school)"
James, doing Modern Languages - Read more

"The best things are the sheer quality of teaching and also the how friendly most people are. Also, there's always something going on, so you'll never be bored. The worst thing would have to be the fact that since it is in a small city, it can sometime get a bit claustrophobic."
Tom, doing English - Read more

"The best thing is the collegiate setup. The worst is the size which, although being a fun environment, can become tiresome."
Thomas, doing Philosophy - Read more

"The best thing is the collegiate system. I didn't really know much about it but it's brilliant - there's such a sense of community in your college but as it's part of a wider university there's that exciting sense of being part of something larger. I honestly can't really think of anything bad to say about Durham! It's excellent."
