Advice about ERASMUS - a study abroad program

From recent reviews, students say the following about the ERASMUS scheme:

"I spent last year at Lyon University 2 as part of the ERASMUS programme. I feel this programme really helped my level of spoken French and helped develop skills such as translation and confidence in using the language. It also taught language skills that you don't learn in the classroom, such as how French people actually speak to one another. The downside of studying in France was the strikes. My university was on strike for the entire second semester so I didn't have much time in classrooms. The standard of teaching and the facilities are also of an inferior quality."

"I intended to but my grades weren't high enough."

"I will be studying in Barcelona for the next academic year. The placements for this course are always at other universities, whether Sciences Politicaux in Paris or Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. You are not permitted to take a work placement on this course."

"Haven't yet, but there is elective opportunity in 4th year."

"At Keele, if you do study abroad with Biomedical sciences, you will not have a Biomedical sciences accredited degree. Instead at the end of your 3 years you will receive a degree in Studies in Biomedical sciences (or something like that)."

"I haven't, but exchanges are offered in your second year, but it is highly recommended that you have excellent knowledge of the language you will need, as most don't teach in English!"

"In the 2nd year of the BA and BSC there is a psycholgy at work module, a 3 week placement. TOTALLY up to you what you do but there has been abroad options the last 2 years. One lecturer on my year took 11 to build houses in New Orleans, I went with another lecturer and 14 others for 2 and a half weeks building schools and teaching in South Africa. Competition for the places is fierce but the lecturers do their best to make sure all who can go do get the chance. Of course it is mostly self funded (we were lucky to have uni pay for the accommodation) so if you want something like this skip a round of drinks once in a while and start saving."
